Check The Steering Wheel Module (SWM)

The Steering Wheel Module (SWM) has registered an internal fault.

HINT: The steering wheel angle sensor is integrated in the Steering Wheel Module (SWM) and cannot be replaced as a separate unit. 

If the fault is intermittent, it has been registered previously but is no longer present. Intermittent malfunctions may be due to interference at start-up of the Steering Wheel Module (SWM) or may be another type of recurring problem. The fault is evaluated depending on how it occurs. If the fault recurs, replace the control module.

Replace the steering wheel module (SWM) in the event of a permanent fault.

Remedy as necessary.
