Engine control module (ECM) checks the signals from the electronic throttle unit.

If engine control module (ECM) detects electrical malfunction of the electronic throttle unit, the diagnostic trouble code is generated.

The diagnostic trouble code can be diagnosed with the ignition on.

Substitute Value

Cruise control turned off when malfunction is active.
Feed to the electronic throttle unit shuts off, so that the throttle disc is turned to return position.

Possible Source

Cables to the electronic throttle unit short-circuited to voltage or ground.
Electrical malfunction of electronic throttle unit (Damaged electronic throttle unit.)
Damaged engine control module (ECM).
