Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Information ECM-P050087

Condition 

Information about vehicle speed is sent on the CAN-network from brake control module (BCM) to engine control module (ECM).

If communication between brake control module (BCM) and engine control module (ECM) is missing, the diagnostic trouble code is generated.

The diagnostic trouble code can be diagnosed when the ignition is on.

HINT: If Engine control module (ECM) has been recharged or if the battery voltage has been interrupted, the brake pedal must be pressed down twice for approx. two seconds to activate the cruise control function. 

Substitute Value 

• Cruise control turned off when malfunction is active.

Possible Source 

• Open circuit on one of the CAN-cables.
• Short-circuit between the control area network (CAN) wiring.
• Internal malfunction in brake control module (BCM).
• Internal malfunction in engine control module (ECM).
• Internal malfunction in another control module in the same part of the CAN-network.
