Checking The Start Function
- Press the start button 10 times in succession.
- Read off the diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) by clicking on the VCT2000 symbol in VIDA (Volvo scan tool). Fault-trace according to diagnostic trouble code (DTC) instructions.
Are relevant diagnostics trouble codes (DTCs) stored?
- YES
OKAY: Troubleshooting has been completed.
- NO
Refer to CHECKING THE START FUNCTION
- Press in the start button and check that both switches close (status changes to activated for both switches). Press the VCT2000 symbol in VIDA (Volvo scan tool).
- If the switches do not work properly, replace the Start control module (SCU).

Has the start control module (SCU) been replaced?
- YES

Remove the key from the ignition switch.
If the key does not come out, check the following and the attempt to remove the key again:
- The vehicle is stationary.
- Gear selector in position P
- Ignition off.
This applies to vehicles with structure week from and including 200720. If the key still cannot be removed, read out the value on the parameter "Key removal". Click the VCT2000 symbol in VIDA (Volvo scan tool) to read off the value.
- If key removal is not permitted according to the parameter, replace the Start control module (SCU).
This applies to vehicles with structure week up to and including 200719.
- If the key still does not come out, replace the Start control module (SCU).
