Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Information

Condition

Engine control module (ECM) performs and monitors ignition control during cold-start.

If the ignition cannot be controlled according to preset manner, the catalytic converter is not heated fast enough, which may lead to worse emissions.

NOTE:

Not being able to perform control in the desired way always depends on another malfunction in the system. It is highly likely that this malfunction also causes idle control to not work as it should. Therefore, troubleshoot according to diagnostic trouble code for idle control.

HINT: The term cold-start means that an engine start when catalytic converter heating is requested by Engine control module (ECM). Catalytic converter heating is requested when the engine has been off and cooled for at least 15 minutes, and the engine temperature at start is lower than 70 °C.
