Checking The Wiring
Check the fuse for the ignition switch in the engine compartment fusebox.
If the fuse is blown, check the circuit after the fuse before replacing the fuse. Check for a short-circuit to ground.
Disconnect connector A on the central electronic module (CEM). Connect the breakout box.
Insert the key in the ignition switch.
Measure the voltage between #A15 (#15) and ground.
The voltage must be 12 V.
Check the cable between terminals #3 and #6 on the start control module (SCU). Check for an open-circuit.
Check the signal cable between central electronic module (CEM) terminal #B17 (#17) and start control module (SCU) terminal #2. Check for an open-circuit. Check for a short-circuit to ground. Check for a short-circuit to supply voltage.
Check the cable between start control module (SCU) terminal #A1 and ground. Check for an open-circuit. Also check the ground terminal for oxidation.
Remedy the cables as necessary.
