Checking The Ignition Switch

• Click on the VCT2000 symbol.
• Check the status for the switch for key-in.

HINT: If the vehicle is equipped with Keyless vehicle module (KVM) always use the remote key in the ignition switch.

Is the function OK? 

• YES 

  Refer to CHECKING UNLOCKED STEERING WHEEL LOCK 

• NO 

  Refer to REPLACING THE START CONTROL UNIT (SCU) 

• Click on the VCT2000 symbol.
• Check that the status of the ignition switch corresponds to all key positions.

  Compare with table in DESCRIPTION OF SWITCH FOR START CONTROL UNIT (SCU) .

Are all key positions OK? 

• YES 

  Refer to CHECKING THE STARTER MOTOR CIRCUIT 

• NO 

  Refer to REPLACING THE START CONTROL UNIT (SCU) 

• Click on the VCT2000 symbol.
• Check that the status of the ignition switch corresponds to all key positions.

  Compare with table in DESCRIPTION OF SWITCH FOR START CONTROL UNIT (SCU) .

Are all key positions OK? 

• YES 

  Refer to FAULT-TRACING INFORMATION 

• NO 

  Refer to CHECKING THE WIRING 

• Click on the VCT2000 symbol.
• Check that the status of the ignition switch corresponds to all key positions.

  Compare with table in DESCRIPTION OF SWITCH FOR START CONTROL UNIT (SCU) .

Are all key positions OK? 

• YES 

  Refer to VERIFICATION 

• NO 

  Refer to CHECKING THE IGNITION SWITCH

• Change to another key belonging to the vehicle.
• Click on the VCT2000 symbol.
• Check that the status of the ignition switch corresponds to all key positions.

  Compare with table in DESCRIPTION OF SWITCH FOR START CONTROL UNIT (SCU) .

If key positions' status cannot be read out, or if the shown key position is invalid, the Start Control Unit (SCU) is probably defective.

Are all key positions OK? 

• YES 

  Refer to PROGRAMMING NEW KEYS 

• NO 

  Refer to REPLACING THE START CONTROL UNIT (SCU)
