Checking The Status

Start the engine and run it to normal operating temperature.
Read off the camshaft shift angle and the camshaft shift angle, desired value.

Check that the camshaft's gear angle and reference value for the camshaft's gear angle correspond with an accuracy of about 20 degrees CA when idling and when the engine is warm. Rev the engine a few times and check again at idle speed that the values correspond.

The difference between the values can be read off in the lower digital display.

The fault is permanent if the values do not correspond. The fault is intermittent if the values correspond.
