Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Information ECM-5320

Condition

The Engine Control Module (ECM) monitors the engine's speed. Engine control module (ECM) receives information about the vehicle's speed from Brake control module (BCM) via the CAN-net. When the Engine control module (ECM) requests fuel shut-off, e. g. when engine braking, the speed signal from the Brake control module (BCM) and engine speed (RPM) signal are checked. The diagnostic is used to diagnose the speed signal from the Brake control module (BCM).

The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored if the control module detects that:

The speed signal from the Brake control module (BCM) indicates that the vehicle speed has been lower than 4 km/h (2.5 mph) for too long at the same time that the engine speed has been greater than 1520 RPM and lower than 4520 RPM.

NOTE:

The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) may also be stored if the speed signal from the Brake control module (BCM) is too low, e. g. if there is dirt on the wheel sensors.

The control module's test for the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) starts in the event of:

Fuel shut-off.

Substitute Value

Manual transmission.

The vehicle speed signal is set as a default value.

Automatic transmission.

Secondary speed signal from Transmission control module (TCM) is used.
