A fault message is transmitted to the engine control module (ECM) and the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored if a fault in the fuel level sensor is detected by the central electronic module (CEM).

The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) can be diagnosed when the ignition is switched on.
