The signal from the knock sensor (KS) is filtered in the engine control module (ECM). The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored if the engine control module (ECM) detects an internal fault in the knock control circuit filter.

The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is diagnosed when starting the engine.

Substitute Value 

• Safety retardation of ignition advance.

Possible Source 

• Damaged engine control module (ECM).

Fault symptom[s] 

• Deterioration in performance
• Malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) lit.
