Checking The Status

Check whether the fault is permanent or intermittent by reading the signals from the fuel, outside and engine temperature sensors.

Check that the fuel temperature is within its permitted range. The fuel temperature should not be lower than the outdoor temperature and a maximum of 40 °C above the engine temperature.

The fault is permanent if the signal is incorrect. The fault is intermittent if the signal is correct.

HINT: Remove the fuel temperature sensor, but let the connector remain connected. The fuel temperature sensor is integrated in the fuel pressure sensor. The sensor should then show the same temperature as the outdoor temperature.
