The Steering Wheel Module (SWM) is available from and incl. model year 2005 in two different versions, one with more and one with less functionality. Steering wheel module (SWM) with enhanced functionality is fitted to vehicles equipped with Dynamic Stability and Traction system (DSTC). The steering wheel module (SWM) reads the vehicle's configuration file during start up. If the Steering Wheel Module (SWM) registers that the vehicle is equipped with the Dynamic Stability and Traction system (DSTC) the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored. Diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) will also be generated in Brake control module (BCM).

The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) can be diagnosed when the ignition is switched on.
