The steering wheel module (SWM) sends information to the electrical power steering module (EPS) regarding the speed of steering wheel movement via the CAN network.

NOTE:

This diagnostic trouble code (DTC) can be stored incorrectly if the ignition is turned to position II using a key from another vehicle.

The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored in the electrical power steering module (EPS) if the electrical power steering module (EPS) registers an incorrect value for steering wheel movement speed from the steering wheel angle sensor.

The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) can be diagnosed when the ignition is switched on.

Substitute Value

A preprogrammed value for steering wheel movement speed is used by the electrical power steering module (EPS).

Possible Source

Fault trace the steering wheel module (SWM).

Fault symptom[s]

Abnormally light steering at high speed
Abnormally heavy steering at low speed.
