Condition

The electrical power steering module (EPS) monitors both the current in the pump motor and the speed of the pump motor.

The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored if the electrical power steering module (EPS) registers that the current to the pump motor is greater than 20 A and that the pump motor speed is less than 100 rpm for more than 0.35 seconds.

The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) can be diagnosed when the engine is idling.

Substitute Value 

• No power steering effect.

Possible Source 

• Mechanical or hydraulic fault in the power steering system (example: steering gear, hoses or pipes blocked)
• Damaged electrical power steering module (EPS).

Fault symptom[s] 

• No or weak power steering effect
• General warning lamp lit
• Messages in the display.
