Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) information

Condition

Fig 1: Identifying Brake Pedal Position Sensor

Model year 1999-2001.

If Engine control module (ECM) registers that the signal from the brake pedal position sensor is:

For upgraded software, released during year 2006 or later, the fault type Faulty signal is no longer necessary and therefore has been removed. With regards to detection times for the other fault types, these are increased from 0.32 to 10 seconds.

See Identifying upgraded software ECM/ETM

Model year 2002.

Engine control module (ECM) receives, via CAN-net, information about brake pedal position from brake control module (BCM). If Engine control module (ECM) registers that the signal is not updated on the CAN-net for longer time than 0.5 seconds, or that brake control module (BCM) indicates that the information is not usable for longer time than 0.5 seconds, then diagnostic trouble code ECM-9400, Faulty signal, is stored.

For upgraded software, released during year 2006 or later, the above detection times increased from 0.5 to 10 seconds.
