Condition

The engine determines the mass air flow based on the throttle position, engine speed (RPM), intake air temperature (IAT) and atmospheric pressure. A comparison is made between the calculated value and the value measured from the mass air flow (MAF) sensor.

Substitute Value 

• None.

Possible Source 

Faulty signal 

• Air leakage in the intake system
• Contaminated throttle disc
• Blocked crankcase ventilation or positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) nipple.
• Damaged mass air flow sensor.

Fault symptom[s] 

• Poor performance.
