Checking for a short-circuit

Check that the button has not jammed in its depressed position.

Check the cable from the upper electronic module (UEM) to the rear reading lamp module. Check for a short-circuit to ground.

Remove the connector from the reading lamp module and measure between the connector and the upper electronic module (UEM) as follows.

UEM-0008 Right rear reading lamp

Control module terminal #20 and reading lamp module terminal #6.

UEM-0009 Left rear reading lamp

Control module terminal #20 and reading lamp module terminal #2.

Replace the cable if a fault is found.
