Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) information REM-6A14

Condition

Fig 1: Identifying Hood Switch

The rear electrical module (REM) uses a switch to check whether the hood is open or closed. The switch provides a ground to the rear electronic module (REM) when the hood is shut.

The rear electronic module (REM) checks the status of the switch by powering it for a short period ("polling").

The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored if the rear electronic module (REM) receives a high signal from the hood  switch when the control module has not polled that switch. This is seen as a short-circuit to supply voltage in the switch or the cable to the switch.

NOTE:

This switch is only installed on cars equipped with an alarm.
