Checking the connectors and bus cable
Remember that the CAN network is only a communication network. There are no fuses, contact breakers or sensors on the CAN bus.
The battery must be disconnected to obtain the correct values when measuring the resistance between the CAN cables.
Check the bus cable. Check for a short-circuit to ground according to Short-circuit to ground, permanent faults . Check the intermediate connectors. Check for contact resistance and oxidation according to Contact resistance and oxidation .
HINT: If the fault is detected before all the following cables have been examined, select Continue.
The following cables and connectors should be examined to localize a short-circuit.
The cable between:
- Road Traffic Information (RTI) terminal #22A and rear electronic module terminal #17A.
Road Traffic Information (RTI) terminal #10A and rear electronic module terminal #15A.

- The voltage must be between approximately 1.5V and 3.5V at the CAN wiring and ground
- The resistance must be approximately 120 ohm between the cables in the CAN
