Checking the connectors and bus cable

NOTE:

Remember that the CAN network is only a communication network. There are no fuses, contact breakers or sensors on the CAN bus. Check resistance as below (see instruction).

NOTE:

To obtain the correct value the battery must be disconnected during resistance measurement.

Check the bus cable. Check for a short-circuit to ground according to Short-circuit to ground, intermittent faults .

Check the intermediate connectors. Check for contact resistance and oxidation according to Contact resistance and oxidation . Check for loose connections according to Loose connections (terminals) .

HINT: If the fault is detected before all the cables have been examined, the cables need not be checked. 

The following cables and connectors should be examined to localize a short-circuit.
