Condition

The engine control module (ECM) checks the signals for gear position sensor positions P and N.

The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) (Faulty signal) is stored if the engine control module (ECM) detects that the signal for P and N via CAN communication is missing or is incorrect.

The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) (Signal missing) is stored if the engine control module (ECM) detects a difference between the directly connected signal and the signal via CAN communication for the gear position sensor position.

The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is diagnosed by the engine control module (ECM) when the ignition is switched on.

Signal missing: Signal via CAN communication is used.

Faulty CAN communication.

Signal missing

Short-circuit to ground or supply voltage in the signal cable
Open-circuit in the signal cable
Fault trace the transmission control module (TCM).
