Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) information ECM-990F

Condition 

The engine control module (ECM) checks the engine torque by reading off the acceleration of the flywheel.

Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) ECM-990F is stored in the engine control module (ECM) if the measured torque exceeds the requested torque, based on the pedal position.

Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) ECM-990F can be diagnosed when the engine is running.

Substitute Value 

• The cruise control is disengaged when the fault is active
• The engine speed (RPM) is limited using fuel shut off. The maximum permitted engine speed depends on the accelerator pedal (AP) position.

Possible Source 

• The exhaust camshaft has jumped off the cogs
• Air leak downstream of the mass air flow (MAF) sensor
• Problem with the electronic throttle unit (ETM)
• Problem with the mass air flow (MAF) sensor
• Problem with the clutch pedal position sensor
• Problem with engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor
• Problem with the engine control module (ECM)
• Problem with the flywheel sensor
• Problem with the manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor
• Problem with the variable valve timing (VVT) control signal.

Fault symptom[s] 

• Jerky operation.
