The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored if the engine control module (ECM) fails to carry out its first adaptation of the electronic throttle unit. This is because the programmed parameter for the stop position in the throttle position (TP) sensor has been exceeded. This adaptation is normally run during manufacture of the vehicle. However the electronic throttle unit must be adapted again if the software, the engine control module (ECM) or the throttle unit is replaced. If other diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) are stored, these must be remedied first. These may have caused the adaptation to fail.
