Rear Disc

  1. Raise and support vehicle. Remove wheel to be measured.
  2. Remove the mounting screw for the brake caliper holder. Hang the brake caliper from the spring using a wire.
  3. Install Clamp Ring (999 5419) included in Measurement Tool Set (999 5418) on hub. See Figure .
  4. Secure clamp ring using wheel lug nuts.
  5. Ensure mating surfaces on brake disc and clamp ring are clean and free of rust.
  6. Tighten studs lightly, then tighten crosswise to 81 ft. lbs. (110 N.m).
  7. Install the bracket on the mounting hole for the brake caliper.
  8. Install the dial indicator in the bracket. See Fig 1 .
  9. Place dial indicator point against the brake disc. See Fig 2 .
  10. Rotate brake disc and note dial indicator lateral run-out.
  11. Brake disc lateral run-out must not exceed specifications. See DISC BRAKE SPECIFICATIONS  . If lateral run-out exceeds the value, replace the brake disc. See REAR BRAKE DISC  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  12. To install, reverse removal procedure. Use new screws on caliper holder and torque to specifications. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
