Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) information ECM-941C

Condition 

The engine control module (ECM) checks and compares the signal from the brake position sensor with position of the brake light switch.

HINT: The brake pedal position sensor's signal is sent to engine control module (ECM) from brake control module (BCM) via CAN. 

If engine control module (ECM) registers values from the brake position sensor that are incorrect, unreasonable, or do not match the position of the brake light switch, the diagnostic trouble code is generated.

The diagnostic trouble code can be diagnosed when the ignition is on.

Substitute Value 

• The cruise control is disengaged when the malfunction is active

Possible Source 

• Contact resistance in connections to the brake position sensor.
• Incorrectly installed brake light switch.
• Defective brake light switch.
• Incorrectly adjusted brake light switch.
• Damaged brake position sensor.

Fault symptom[s] 

• Cruise control does not function at all.
• Brake light constantly on.
