Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) information

Transmission control module (TCM) receives a speed signal from the ABS system and from the automatic transmission speed sensor. The transmission control module (TCM) compares the speed signals from the ABS system and from the transmission speed sensor. The two signals should be approximately the same. The control module derives and compares the transmission speed with the vehicle speed. The transmission control module (TCM) uses this comparison to calculate gear-shift timing. Engine speed (RPM) and vehicle speed data affects the adjustment of system pressure, lock-up function control and engine torque reduction. The result is smooth gear-shifting. The transmission control module also derives and calculates the ABS system signal with the engine speed (RPM) signal. The control module also checks which gear is selected and compares it with the calculated gear. The ABS system and transmission speed signals should be almost identical. The engine speed (RPM) signal should be greater or lower than the ABS system speed signal (note that vehicle speed must be above 30 km/h, engine speed (RPM) above 1400 RPM and transmission oil temperature over 20 °C). Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) TCM-0115 is stored if the control module detects that the transmission speed and engine speed (RPM) signals do not correspond with the programmed values and that an "incorrect" gear is selected. This is because solenoid S3 is stuck in the open or closed position.

Possible Source

Fault symptom[s]

HINT: Harsh shifting because there is no line pressure solenoid SLT control. This results in constant maximum line pressure.

HINT: No shifting because the control module prevents activation of the solenoids.
