Overview

Fault data and other information can be read off using the VIDA PC which is connected to the data link connector (DLC) via VCT 2000. The data link connector (DLC) is on the left-hand side of the center console. It is on the right-hand side of the center console on right-hand drive cars.

The VIDA PC communicates with the control module via VCT 2000. Communication is via a standardized communication network.

Volvo on-board diagnostic (OBD) system

With VIDA it is possible to:

To activate the Volvo on-board diagnostic (OBD) system for ABS:

The ABS warning lamp lights when the control module activates the Volvo on-board diagnostic (OBD) system.

WARNING: The ABS function is not available when the Volvo on-board diagnostic (OBD) system is activated. Extreme caution must be taken when test driving: There is a high risk of wheel lock-up.

When the Volvo on-board diagnostics (OBD) are complete, the warning lamp goes out and the control module resumes normal function for ABS control if no fault has been detected.

Reading and erasing diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs)

Stored diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) can be read off and erased using this function. The on-board diagnostic (OBD) system can identify 22 different faults in the form of diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs).

Diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) can only be erased when all diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) have been read at least once.

Connect VCT 2000 according to Connecting the Volvo Communication Tool 2000 (VCT 2000) .

Activating components and functions

This function allows the system components/functions to be activated individually.

The vehicle speed must be 0 km/h before activation is possible.

The following components can be activated:

For further information about activation, see Activating components/functions .

Reading off input and output signals

The values and status of the control module input and output signals can be continuously monitored using this function.

The following parameters can be read off:

For further information about parameters, see Reading off parameters .

Identifying control modules

VIDA identifies control modules by reading a code from the memory of the module. This code contains information about the control module P/N.

NOTE: This number is stored during manufacture. It allows identification.
