Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) information

IMM-214 Communication with engine control module (ECM) 

Condition 

HINT: The MIN code is a model specific code. It prevents the prohibited use of other engine management systems. It is transmitted during the communication phase (the first two seconds when the car is being started) between the immobilizer control module and the engine control module (ECM).

The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) applies only to cars with the EMS 2000 and Melco 1 engine management systems.

Each time the immobilizer control module and engine control module (ECM) communicate, the immobilizer control module checks whether the engine control module (ECM) data contains an incorrect MIN code. Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) IMM-214 is stored if the MIN code is incorrect.

Possible Source 

• Incorrect type of engine control module (ECM).
• Incorrect initiation of immobilizer control module. (The immobilizer control module is programmed for an engine control module (ECM) other than that being used.)

Fault symptom[s] 

• The indicator lamp in the combined instrument panel is lit.
• The engine starts but stops immediately.
