IMM-213 Communication with engine control module (ECM)

The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) applies only to cars with the EMS 2000 engine management system.

The immobilizer control module checks communication between the engine control module (ECM) and the immobilizer for two seconds when the ignition is switched on. Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) IMM-213 is stored if the immobilizer control module receives the wrong data.

Possible Source 

• EMC interference (strong electrical fields) during the communication phase between the immobilizer control module and the engine control module (ECM).
• Difference in voltage of more than 0.4 V between the immobilizer control module and engine control module (ECM) ground terminals.

Fault symptom[s] 

• The indicator lamp in the combined instrument panel is lit.
• The engine starts but stops immediately.
