Diagnostic trouble code information

The steering wheel angle sensor has two circuits each with 4 LEDs and 4 receptors which read off their individual code wheel. One circuit measures the steering wheel angle and the other measures steering wheel revolutions. If the control unit registers that the current passing through the LED group circuit is too high, diagnostic trouble code SAS-0002 or SAS-0026 is set, depending on the group.

Substitute Value 

• Stabilising function disconnected.
• Anti-spin function blocked.

Possible Source 

• Contact resistance or oxidation in connections or connectors.
• Short circuit to voltage supply in LED circuit.
• LED 1-4 defective (diagnostic trouble code SAS-0002).
• LED 5-8 defective (diagnostic trouble code SAS-0026).
• Defective control unit.

Fault symptom[s] 

• Anti-spin warning lamp is on.
• Stabilising function not working.
• Anti-spin does not work.
