System Overview: Signals

The chart below summarizes the input and output signals to and from the differential electronic module. The illustration below displays the same information with the Volvo part numbers.

Temperature sensor Electric feed pump

Via Control Area Network (CAN):  Via Control Area Network (CAN): 
Central electronic module (4/56), parking brake switch status, ignition key position and back up signal BCM (4/16), clutch status
BCM (4/16), wheel speed from the wheel speed sensors and status signal (to open the clutch at stability control).  
Engine control module (ECM) (4/46), provides information about, engine speed (RPM), torque, accelerator pedal (AP) position and the stop lamp switch status.
