Checking the power supply and ground for the supplemental restraint system module (SRS)
WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 9 other vehicles, including the 2009 Volvo S60, 2008 Volvo S60, 2007 Volvo S60, 2006 Volvo S60, and 2005 Volvo S60. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
For further information about the fuse and terminal pin numbers, see the Wiring Diagram.
Checking the power supply
- Check the fuse in the passenger compartment fusebox for the supplemental restraint system module (SRS).NOTE: If a fuse is blown, check the circuit after the fuse before replacing the fuse. Check for a short-circuit to ground. Then replace the fuse. For further information about the circuit after the fuse, refer to the wiring diagram
- Check the power supply cable between the X-supply from the ignition switch and the supplemental restraint system module (SRS). Check for an open-circuit
- Check the power supply cable between the 15-supply and the supplemental restraint system module (SRS). Check for an open-circuit. Check for a short-circuit to ground.
Checking the ground terminal
- The supplemental restraint system module (SRS) is grounded when it is screwed into place in the car.
The resistance between the control module casing and the ground terminal must be 0 Ω.
Remedy as necessary
Other information
- To access and replace the supplemental restraint system module (SRS) and connector, see Supplemental restraint system module (SRS), replacing
- To connect the breakout box, see Connecting the breakout box
- With the ignition off and the supplemental restraint system module (SRS) installed, the resistance between the control module casing and the ground terminal must be approximately 0 Ω.
