Fuel system, safety precautions: Regulations

Disconnect the battery negative lead before beginning the repair.

During repair, the solenoid valve must be closed mechanically with an Allen key.

If there is a suspicion of leakage from the fuel system: Close the solenoid valve. Open the bonnet and doors. Air for at least 5 minutes.

Use leakage locator, 9512761 , supplied, when leak-tracing the system. Do not use other leakage locating tools. Other tools may generate sparks.

Check that the solenoid valve is closed when working on cars that are crash damaged.

The tank should be removed if stoving.

The tank does not have to be removed during air drying painting.

Empty the tank. Draining the gas tank

NOTE:

When transporting gas vehicles on ferries, the normal conditions for handling motor vehicles apply.

When transporting entire vehicles or gas tanks in containers, the gas tanks must be completely empty and the valves in the tanks must be closed.

When transporting complete vehicles or gas tanks by air, the tanks must be completely empty and the valves removed so that it is possible to look into the tanks.

Observe any special transport regulations.

A damaged tank must always be replaced.

The damaged tank must be scrapped. A hole must be drilled in the tank so that it is not used again by mistake.

WARNING:

A tank which has been filled with gas will always contain a small amount of gas after emptying.

Do not use compressed air to blow out the residue.
