Seat Drive Status
- This procedure assumes that power seat switch is in good working order. Test power seat switch. See POWER SEAT SWITCH under COMPONENT TESTS. If power seat switch tests okay, go to next step.
- Operate power seat adjustment forward or backward then front/rear height adjustment in both directions using power seat switch. If seat operates in all directions, go to next step. If seat does not operate in one or more directions, go to step 4 .
- System is operating properly at this time. Check for poor connections or loose terminals. Repair as necessary.
- Remove seat from vehicle. See POWER SEAT under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Connect adapter cables and breakout box to seat. See Figure . Use DVOM to measure voltage between ground and specified terminals of Gray 14-pin connector while operating seat switch. See Fig 1 . See GRAY 14-PIN CONNECTOR TERMINAL IDENTIFICATION table. Battery voltage should be indicated at each terminal when switch is activated in corresponding position. If battery voltage is indicated at all terminals, go to next step. If battery voltage is not indicated at all terminals, go to step 8 .
- Remove suspect motor for inoperative position from drive gear. See SEAT MOTORS under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Ensure electrical connector is left attached to suspect motor. Activate suspect motor using power seat switch. If motor operates, go to next step. If motor does not operate, go to step 9 .
- Remove suspect drive gear with drive shaft from under seat. Install suspect motor on drive gear. Activate motor using power seat switch. If drive gear moves, go to next step. If drive gear does not move, go to step 10 .
- System is operating properly at this time. Check for poor connections or loose terminals. Repair as necessary.
- Replace power seat control module. See SEAT CONTROL MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repairs, go to step 2 .
- Replace suspect seat motor. See SEAT MOTORS under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repairs, go to step 2 .
- Replace suspect drive gear assembly. See SEAT MOTORS under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repairs, go to step 2 .
