Diagnostic Procedure

  1. This DTC may be caused by an open circuit in the CAN wiring. BEFORE replacing CAN & Driver Information Module (CDM), check for open or short circuit in CAN wiring between ECM and CDM. See Figure.
  2. ECM has registered a fault in communication with the CDM. Fault is caused either by a problem with CAN communication or an internal fault in the CDM. Read out fault memory using scan tool and check for other CAN DTCs. Diagnose as necessary. If no other DTCs are present and fault remains, replace CDM.
