Test drive form, description, 2000

This test drive form is a guide to road testing when assessing customer complaints about the AW50-42 automatic transmission.

Please observe speed limits.

When test driving, use the Volvo Scan Tool (ST) to obtain different values and functions.

Before the test drive: 

Test driving 

  1. Check the operation of the park / neutral position (PNP) switch:
    • Try to start the car with gear selector in position .
    • Try to start the car with the gear selector in any position other than - or
  2. Check the gear selector positions:
    • Check that the selector engages in each position, and that it does not try to " jump" out of the selected position.
  3. Check the back-up (reverse) gear:
    • Back up the car as usual, ensuring that the back-up (reversing) light comes on.
  4. Listen for mechanical noises:
    • Start with the gear selector in . Drive the car so that the transmission shifts up and down. Listen for abnormal noises from the transmission. Discontinue the test drive immediately if there is noise. Return to the workshop and discontinue the current fault-tracing Add mechanical symptoms to the symptoms list. Fault-trace the symptoms.
