BACKGROUND

Background: This method describes how to move the cable harness that carries the cables for the gear selector module when diagnostic trouble code (DTC) TCM 0094 is stored.

Chassis numbers -029667 

  1. Preparations

    Remove the center console as per VADIS.

  2. Circuit board / top panel, replacing

    Remove the circuit board / or top panel as per VADIS.

  3. Lift the right-hand side of the rear seat.

    Remove the right rear door sill trim panel.

    Push the carpet to aside to expose two connectors.

    Disconnect the front connector.

    Connect the one end of the jumper harness between the disconnected front connectors. The other end of the jumper harness will get connected at the gear shifter (see Fig 1 ).

    Install the wire in the wire duct.

    Then pull the wire along the existing wire harness to the front edge of the front seat support.

  4. Loosen the rear screws for the right hand seat a few turns.

    Remove the front screws for the right-hand seat.

    Secure the wire in the wire duct using a tie strap (see Fig 2 ).

    Position the wire along the seat support, under the air ducts to the center console.

  5. Route the cable (1) under the cable duct (2). Continue under the gear selector lever link rod (3) around the gear selector assembly to the left-hand side of the gear selector assembly (see Fig 3 ).

  6. Disconnect the connector at the back of the gear selector assembly (see Fig 4 ).

  7. Remove the secondary lock. Use special tool 951 2853 (see Fig 5 ).

  8. Remove the violet/white (VO/W) wire from the connector. Use special tool 951 2852 (see Fig 6 ).

    Installing 

  9. New wire, installing

    Install the:

    • violet/white VO/W wire from the jumper harness in the connector behind the gear selector (see Fig 7 )
    • secondary lock.

    Reconnect the connector.

  10. Install the:
    • center console as per VADIS
    • carpet
    • seat, tightening the screws
    • sill trim panel
    • rear seat.

  11. Preparations

    Remove the:

    • center console as per VADIS
    • driver's side soundproofing panel.
  12. Circuit/top panel, replacing (only chassis numbers 064001-100000)

    Replace the circuit board / or top panel as per VADIS.

  13. Remove the windscreen wiper mechanism as per VADIS (see Fig 8 ).

  14. Remove the central electronic module (CEM) as per VADIS.
  15. Remove the cover for the connectors in the engine compartment / passenger compartment (see Fig 9 )

    Disconnect the connectors by screwing the connectors upwards so that the threads release. Then remove the connectors.

    Remove the four screws.

  16. Remove the secondary lock from the connector 54/3LC. Pull alternately using the special tool 951 2853 in the direction of the arrows (see Fig 10 ).

  17. Remove the violet/white (VO/W) wire in terminal C5 from the connector. Use special tool 951 2852 (see Fig 11 ).

    Bend the terminal pin back. Tape the pin in the wire.

  18. Remove the four relays (1) from the central electronic module (CEM) (see Fig 12 ).

  19. Remove the cover. Carefully pry the cover using a screwdriver following the number order as illustrated (see Fig 13 ). At the same time lift the cover.
    NOTE: The illustrations of the central electronic module (CEM) in the operation only show the section of the central electronic module (CEM) where the relays are positioned.

  20. Remove the violet/white (VO/W) wire from the central electronic module (CEM) (MI 21 pos 1), as illustrated (see Fig 14 ). Bend the lock to one side using a small screwdriver. Pull out the terminal pin.

    Bend the terminal pin back. Tape the pin in the wire.

  21. Disconnect the connector at the back of the gear selector assembly (see Fig 4 ).
  22. Remove the secondary lock (see Fig 5 ).
  23. Remove the violet/white (VO/W) wire from the connector. Use special tool 951 2852 (see Fig 6 ).

    Installing 

  24. New wire, installing

    Install the:

    • new violet/white (VO/W) wire from the jumper harness in the connector behind the gear selector (see Fig 7 )
    • secondary lock.

    Reconnect the connector.

  25. Position the wire under the edge of the carpet continue along in front of the floor air vent. Then continue up to the wire harness under the dashboard. Secure the wire using the tie strap.

    Position the wire under the existing wire duct past the steering column. Secure the wire using a tie strap (1) on both sides of the steering column (see Fig 15 ).

  26. Install the:
    • new violet/white (VO/W) wire in terminal C5 in the connector (see Fig 16 )
    • secondary lock.

  27. Install the:
    • new violet/white (VO/W) wire in the central electronic module (CEM) (see Fig 17 )
    • cover.

  28. Install the:
    • connectors from the passenger compartment on the bracket. Tighten the four screws (see Fig 9 )
    • connectors from the engine compartment on the connectors from the passenger compartment. Tighten the screws
    • cover.
  29. Install the Central electronic module (CEM) as per VADIS.
  30. Install the windscreen wiper mechanism as per VADIS (see Fig 8 ).
  31. Install the:
    • driver's side soundproofing panel
    • center console as per VADIS.

WARRANTY STATEMENT  : Claims may be submitted under the New Car Warranty when there is a documented customer complaint, using claim type 01.
