Me 7.0: Introduction
ME 7.0 is a development of the Motronic 4.4 and is largely similar in terms of the sensors and their function.
The ME 7.0 is installed on all B6304T, B62X4T and B52X4T engines from model year 1999 onwards. The biggest new feature applies to the communication between the engine control module (ECM) and other modules.
Communication is via a network (Controller Area Network).
The following communicate with the Engine Control Module (ECM) via the CAN network.
| CEM | Central Electronic Module | Central computer in the network and the exchange between the network high speed sector (250 kbps) and the low speed sector (125 kbps). The high speed sectors covers the modules in the engine compartment (ECM, ETM, TCM, ABS and CEM). |
| TCM | Transmission Control Module | Sends a signal about torque limiting to the ECM. |
| ABS/STC | Anti-lock Braking system/ Stability Traction Control | Provides information about speed and road conditions. |
| ETM | Electronic Throttle Module | Sends a signal with throttle position. |
| THS | Test output for connection the VIDA station. | |
| DIM | Driver Information Module | Located in the combined instrument panel. |
| CCM | Climate Control Module | MCC and ECC |
| SWM | Steering Wheel Module | Provides information about current throttle position. |
There are also other new features in the system:
| ETS | Electronic Throttle System | Covers ETM and APM (Accelerator Pedal Module). |
| VVT | Variable Valve Timing | Continuously controlled, it controls camshaft setting |
