Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) information

The engine control module (ECM) checks the signal for engine coolant temperature (ECT).

After the engine is started, the engine control module (ECM) calculates the theoretical engine coolant temperature (ECT) based on factors such as time since start, engine speed (RPM) and load. The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored if the signal from the engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor is lower than the calculated temperature.

The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) can be diagnosed when the engine is running.
