Checking for a short circuit

Check the resistance between the fuse holder secondary side (left) and ground.

The ohmmeter should display infinite resistance.

If the value is correct, replace the fuse.

NOTE: In this case the fault could be intermittent.

If the value deviates, trouble-shoot both the relay supply wire and component supply wire for a short circuit to ground as described in Short-circuit to ground, permanent faults .

HINT: Replace fuse. 

HINT: If the fuse works straight away the fault is a short circuit on the relay supply wire. 

HINT: If the fuse works when the boot lid is opened the short circuit is on the component supply wire 

HINT: Relay supply wire: fuse 11D/6 5 relay socket 2/67. 

HINT: Component supply wire: 4 relay socket 2/67 2 lock unit.
