.
- System is operating properly at this time. Check for poor connections or loose terminals. Repair as necessary.
- Remove seat from vehicle. See POWER SEAT
under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Connect adapter cables and breakout box to seat. See Fig 1
. Use DVOM to measure voltage between ground and Gray 14-pin connector terminal No. 1 (forward) or No. 2 (backward). Operate back rest switch forward or backward. DVOM should indicate battery voltage when the respective button is pressed. If battery voltage is indicated, go to next step. If battery voltage is not indicated, go to step 10
.
- Disconnect drive cable from back rest motor. See SEAT MOTORS
under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Operate back rest switch forward or backward. If motor operates, go to next step. If motor does not operate, go to step 11
.
- Disconnect drive cable from drive gear. Reinstall drive cable on motor. Operate back rest adjustment switch forward or backward. Check drive cable operation. If drive cable turns, go to next step. If drive cable does not turn, go to step 12
.
- Check drive cable length. Measure distance between sheath sleeve and cable end. Wire should stick out at least 0.4" (10 mm). If measurement is as specified, go to next step. If measurement is not as specified, go to step 12
.
- Access and open drive gear assembly by removing 4 screws on drive gear housing. Check worm gear and drive. If worm and drive gears are okay, go to next step. If worm and/or drive gears are damaged, go to step 13
.
