Seat Does Not Slide Forward/Backward

  1. This procedure assumes that power seat switch is in good working order. Test power seat switch. See POWER SEAT SWITCH  under COMPONENT TESTS. If power seat switch tests okay, go to next step.
  2. Check seat drive status. See SEAT DRIVE STATUS  . If seat drive status is okay, go to next step.
  3. Check guide rail to see if anything is stuck in it. There should be no foreign objects in the rail which may prevent forward or backward movement. If foreign objects are found, go to step  6 . If rails are clear, go to next step.
  4. Check seat rail gear sector. If gear sector is okay, go to next step. If gear sector is not okay, go to step  7 .
  5. System is operating properly at this time. Check for poor connections or loose terminals. Repair as necessary.
  6. Remove foreign objects. Check that there is no damage to the power seat rails. If damage is found, go to next step. If rails are okay, recheck system operation.
  7. Replace seat rail assembly. See POWER SEAT  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
