Diagnostic Procedure

NOTE: The control module in the combined instrument panel (driver information module) has overall control of the communication network. The control module stores a number of DTCs which indicate the fault. In case of communication problems the fault may exist in another part of the communications network.
  1. Check DTC status to see if fault is intermittent or permanent. Connect a scan tool and start engine. Hold down brake pedal and press accelerator pedal down simultaneously. Fault is intermittent if RPM increases. Fault is permanent if RPM does not increase. If fault is permanent, go to  2. If fault is intermittent, go to  3.
  2. Connect scan tool and turn ignition ON. Read out DTCs from combined instrument panel (driver information module). If there are DTCs for communication problems with the ECM/electronic throttle module stored in driver information module, diagnose and each DTC as necessary. If no other DTCs are present, throttle unit registered a communication fault previously but has detected that fault is no longer present. Repair is complete if fault does not recur.
  3. Throttle unit registered a communication fault previously but has detected that fault is no longer present. Repair is complete if fault does not recur.
