Checking the Function Of the ABS Warning Lamp: Verification

HINT: Check after repair that the fault has been rectified. 

HINT: Proceed as follows:

• Switch off the ignition.
• Switch off all power consuming components such as the courtesy lighting and the radio.

  • Connect an ohmmeter between terminal 16 on the breakout box and the battery negative terminal.

The ohmmeter should read approximately 0 Ω. 

• OK 

  Refer to Checking the Function Of the ABS Warning Lamp 

• NOT OK 

  Refer to Information 

HINT: After carrying out the repair, check that the fault has been remedied as follows:

• Ignition off.
• Reinstall the connectors, components etc.
• Ignition on.

  The ABS warning lamp must light when the ignition is switched to position II. It should go out after 4 seconds, or when the engine is started.

  HINT: The ABS warning lamp does not go out if the control module has registered a fault.

Does the lamp go out approximately 4 seconds after the ignition is switched on? 

• YES 

  VERIFIED:  Troubleshooting has been completed.

• NO
