Connecting & Disconnecting Breakout Box: Disconnecting

CAUTION: Wait 2 minutes after the ignition has been switched off. The main relay MUST be voltage free before removing ECM from vehicle. If engine cooling fan runs on after ignition has been switched off, wait until it stops and then wait for a further 2 minutes.
NOTE: DO NOT touch ECM terminal pins with fingers. Static electricity may damage ECM.
  1. Insert tool 999 5722 or equivalent around adapter. Move the upper section of the tool backwards as far as it will go. Pull up. See Figure.
  2. Carefully pull up on adapter.
  3. Install ECM. See REMOVAL & INSTALLATION - EXCEPT S40 & V40 article.
