Ignition Lock Cable: Removal

  1. Disconnect negative battery cable.
  2. Remove knee bolster cover underneath driver-side dashboard. See Fig 1 .

  3. Remove steering wheel adjusting lever and column covers. See Fig 2 .
  4. Remove ash tray. Remove screws in storage compartment. Remove console mounting screws and cover under parking brake. See Fig 3 .

  5. Disconnect panel connectors and remove panel from center console. Put gear selector in Park. Turn ignition key to position I or II.
  6. Disconnect cable from ignition switch. Press in cable locking tabs and withdraw cable. Remove cable from ignition switch. See Fig 4 .
    NOTE: Note ignition lock cable routing before removing.
  7. Remove cable adjuster locking clip at gear selector lever end. Ensure that gear shift lever is in Park. Raise edge of rubber strip around gear lever and unhook cable from lever arm. Remove cable. See Fig 5 .
