Turn Signal Light Functions
- Connect scan tool to DLC. Go to programming status. Scan tool will display IND. ACTIVE = ON when VGLA control module is programmed to flash turn indicators once when alarm is armed. If display indicates IND. ACTIVE = ON, go to next step. If display does not indicate IND. ACTIVE = ON, change status to ON and recheck system operation.
- Use scan tool activation function (scan tool will indicate DIR. IND. ROUT) to activate turn signal lamps. If turn signal lamps flash 3 times when activated, system is operating properly. If turn signal lamps do not flash 3 times when activated, go to next step.
- Disconnect VGLA control module connector. Check VGLA connector for loose or corroded terminal. Repair as necessary. Reconnect VGLA control module. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Use scan tool activation function (scan tool will indicate DIR. IND. ROUT) to activate turn signal lamps. If turn signal lamps flash 3 times when activated, symptom has been repaired. If turn signal lamps do not flash 3 times when activated, go to next step.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect VGLA control module. Connect fused jumper between VGLA connector terminals A-12 (Green wire) and A-26 (Red/Black wire). See WIRING DIAGRAMS . The left turn signal lamp should come on. Connect fused jumper between VGLA connector terminals A-13 (Blue/Green wire) and A-26 (Red/Black wire). See WIRING DIAGRAMS . The right turn signal lamp should come on. If turn signals respond as specified, go to step 6 . If turn signals do not respond as specified, go to next step.
- Check for open in the following circuits. See WIRING DIAGRAMS
.
- Blue/Green wire between VGLA control module connector terminal A-13 and right side turn signals.
- Green wire between VGLA control module connector terminal A-12 and left side turn signals.
Repair as necessary. Recheck system operation.
- Replace VGLA control module. See VGLA CONTROL MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Go to next step.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Reconnect all disconnected components. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Use scan tool activation function (scan tool will indicate DIR. IND. ROUT) to activate turn signal lamps. If turn signal lamps flash 3 times when activated, symptom has been repaired. If turn signal lamps do not flash 3 times when activated, fault is still present.
