Removal & Installation (C/S/V70, FWD)

  1. On 5-door models, remove all floor hatches and fold back carpet. Remove cover over fuel pump unit.
  2. On 4-door models, fold right rear seat forward. Remove trunk carpet and fold corner of wheel housing panel back at shock mount. Remove cover over fuel pump unit.
  3. Separate connectors on bracket. Remove rubber bracket from around cables. Ensure cables routed through fuel pump hole are not snagged.
  4. Remove lock ring holding filler pipe rubber seal. Release seal from body. See Fig 1.
  5. Position a jack with flat fixture under fuel tank. Remove tank retaining straps and lower tank slightly.
  6. Remove entire mount from bracket by pulling toward right side of vehicle.
  7. Remove old tank pressure sensor and clean area around mount. Install new sensor.
  8. Fit cables as they were mounted originally. Raise tank enough to fit front fastener on bracket. Fit cables through body hole at fuel pump fitting. Ensure no wires are snagged or kinked. Raise tank and secure straps.
  9. Install fuel filler pipe. Fit rubber seal and ensure drain pipe is inside the inner seal. Ensure circlip is in position and lubricate sealing surfaces of rubber cover with petroleum jelly. Install cover and circlip. See Figure.
  10. Connect electrical connectors. Install covers and interior panels.
