Function description
The convertible top control module controls seven motors for opening and closing the convertible top through a sequential control system. This is made possible by a status control system. Potentiometers and micro-switches are used to determine the position or condition of the convertible top. The convertible top and the tension bow each use two motors. The convertible control unit controls the motors for the front latch, the rear latch and cover locks.
In addition the convertible control unit starts the warning buzzer and LED in the convertible top button (LED) to indicate the present position of the convertible top.
The remote trunk lid opening and rear windshield heater functions are controlled by the convertible control unit to avoid collisions between the trunk lid and the convertible top while the top is moving.
